Brechin...
Brechin was once home to the Picts - a Celtic race of people who inhabited this part of Scotland 2000 years ago. This old market town celebrate their life and times at Pictavia, on the outskirts of Brechin, a visitor centre dedicated to their history. Pictavia is located within a countryside park, the Brechin Castle Centre, which offers a fantastic day out for all the family. You can also visit the Caledonian Railway, a narrow gauge steam railway running between Brechin and Dun stations, with a connection to take you after a short walk to the House of Dun, the Grand 18th century house designed by William Adam – a National Trust for Scotland property.

The Brechin Round Tower is one of only two surviving such towers in Scotland and is built with accompanying detached stone Cathedral. Brechin Cathedral has magnificent stained glass windows by Edward Burne-Jones. The Old Town House, now a museum, was built in 1789 on the site of the former tollbooth.

The ancient city of Brechin offers countless opportunities for walkers. The heritage trail circles the mediaeval Cathedral and the Round Tower whilst for greater distances you can walk into the countryside to view lime workings, quarries, toll houses, forts and nature trails all surrounded by the beautiful Strathmore scenery.

Edzell...
Edzell village lies to the north of Brechin and is one of the most attractive villages in Scotland, consistently winning prizes for its beauty. Entry into the village is via the impressive 19th century Dalhousie Arch. Nearby is the spectacular scenery featuring the Rocks of Solitude and Gannochy Bridge, where the salmon leap to their spawning grounds.

Angus...
Angus offers plenty of sporting and sightseeing diversions and our staff will be delighted to assist in organising your leisure break.

There are well over 20 golf courses worth playing in the Angus and Dundee area. Here you will find a string of excellent courses along the shores and inland toward the foothills of the Grampian Mountains, offering quality, variety and accessibility. The area boasts a golfing history that has shaped the development of the game worldwide. Arguably the most famous course in this area is the majestic links course Carnoustie, which is one of several Open Championship courses in Scotland and by far the longest. There are many more classic courses along the wonderful, sandy, 30-mile stretch of coastline, offering a challenge to golfers who excel in windy conditions.

A mixture of outstanding links courses in gentle rolling terrain and a wonderful abundance and variety of inland courses created in rich, fertile soil with fast greens, will give you a golfing experience hard to beat.

Hill walkers can discover the beauty and history of the Angus Glens, one of Scotland’s best-kept secrets providing a stunning backdrop for all abilities. The Glens of Isla, Clova, Prosen, Lethnot and Esk are breathtakingly beautiful and unspoilt and include no less than 10 Munros.

Angus aims to provide sustainable angling across all angling sectors. The rivers North and South Esks lie side by side in Angus providing the connoisseur angler with a choice of fishing through spring, summer and autumn runs. Angus also boasts significant opportunities for sea anglers having fine beaches, spectacular cliff scenery and charter boats. Trout fisheries are prominent in Angus offering excellent facilities often with professional instruction thus providing an ideal introduction to angling.
